FreshDirect at Yankee Stadium: Meeting Fans Where They Are

Some of the best brand moments happen when you stop asking people to come to you and start showing up where they already are.

That’s the thinking behind our latest work with FreshDirect at Yankee Stadium.

FreshDirect already has a presence inside the stadium through the FreshDirect Terrace, but this season we’ve been taking that presence a step further with a dedicated activation during regular season games.

The goal is simple: meet fans in the middle of a moment they already care about and give them something useful, memorable, and easy to engage with.

MEETING FANS IN THE MOMENT

Yankees fandom is strong, and you feel that the second you walk into the stadium.

Families, couples, groups of friends, parents with kids, longtime fans, first-timers, everyone arrives excited for the game and ready to be part of the experience.

That makes the stadium a powerful place for a brand like FreshDirect to show up.

At the activation, fans can play a custom Plinko game for prizes, pick up FreshDirect gift cards, and grab branded mesh grocery bags to take home.

The response has been immediate, with fans eager to engage and be part of the experience. It’s a great example of what happens when the right brand meets the right audience in the right moment.

RELEVANCE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

What makes the partnership work is how naturally FreshDirect fits into the lives of the people already there.

Everyone in the stadium has something in common beyond baseball: they have to eat.

Parents are thinking about feeding families. Couples are figuring out dinner after work. People living alone are deciding what to make during the week. Giving fans access to discounted meals and groceries delivered directly to their door creates a clear connection between the experience at the stadium and something genuinely useful once they leave.

The activation doesn’t ask people to change what they’re doing. It meets them during a moment they already chose to be part of and offers something relevant to their everyday lives.

That’s a very different relationship than simply putting a logo in front of an audience.

SHOWING UP AS PART OF THE EXPERIENCE

The details matter too.

Our SoHo team showed up in custom FreshDirect x SoHo shirts designed specifically for the activation, bringing the partnership into the environment in a way that felt fun and connected to the stadium experience.

The shirts, mesh bags, Plinko board, gift cards, and physical footprint all work together to create a stronger presence than any one element could on its own.

It gives fans something to interact with, something to take home, and something that keeps the brand top of mind after the game ends.

FANDOM CREATES THE OPPORTUNITY

Sports fandom creates an environment brands spend years trying to build on their own.

People arrive emotionally invested. They’re wearing the colors, following rituals, bringing family and friends, and choosing to spend hours together around something they care deeply about.

The opportunity isn’t to interrupt that, it’s rather to add to it.

When a brand can show up in a way that feels useful, entertaining, or generous, it becomes part of the larger experience instead of competing with it.

THE SOHO TAKE

We talk a lot about meeting people where they are, and sometimes that means being very literal about it.

For FreshDirect, Yankee Stadium gives us the chance to connect with thousands of people who are already gathered around a shared passion and introduce the brand in a way that makes sense for their lives beyond baseball.

The fact that fans are lining up, playing, engaging, and clearing out the giveaways within minutes tells us the idea is landing.

You don’t always have to build the fandom yourself. Sometimes the opportunity is recognizing where it already exists, and finding a natural way to become part of the experience. Let’s connect.
